    Job Purpose


    The purpose of this role is to provide technical support and training on the use and application of company wood coating products, services, equipment, and documentation in acquiring new business and in maintaining multiple existing customers.

    Total Compensation

    • Annual base Salary of $65,000.00 to $78,000.00
    • 15% Annual Bonus based on personal and corporate performance.
    • $800 monthly vehicle allowance plus paid mileage
    • 3 weeks' vacation + 5 personal/Sick days + company determined floater days.

    Job Placement


    In this commercial role, you will work remotely from a specified territory and are not required to report to a designated AkzoNobel site. The territory covered is mostly in Quebec but the Technical Service Representative can be called on to serve in Ontario and New Brunswick.

    Principal Responsibilities

    • Provide complete technical support to customers by proactively problem solving, analyzing product-related issues, including on-site analysis and actuations.
    • Manage complex customer complaints and perform laboratory analysis of the issues when needed. Communicate with Lab and/or Quality Control department to establish corrective actions.
    • Actively participate in key phases of the sales process to prospects by gathering customer needs and requirements, attending testing processes for the implementation of new products and technologies in cooperation with Sales & Marketing organization to help build the customer strategy plans.
    • Develops long-term relations with customers including their technical staff, to keep and to extend the business.
    • In our CRM tool, provide timely updates and reporting in regard to visits, progress reports, action reports, customer complaint cases, regulatory requests.

    Job Requirements

    • Experience: 3-5 years of work experience in the paints and coatings industry in any B2B industry environment.
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field preferred - all may apply.
    • Language Skills: French, written, read, and spoken is required. English, written, read, and spoken is an asset.
    • Computer skills: Good computer literacy including using e-mail, the internet and Microsoft Outlook programs such as Word and Excel.
    • Communication Skills: Problem solving, stakeholder management, creating value propositions, communication and presentation, commercial and business acumen, basic understanding of financial concepts related to sales and cost to serve.
    • Travel: Must be willing to travel to various customer locations within Canada and spend an average of 2 overnight per week. The successful candidate will also be able to periodically travel to the USA.
