The Opportunity

This is an onsite, full-time position, based in Toronto.

Hours:
Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 and 11:00am to 7:00pm at least two days per week.


Education/Experience:


  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality & Tourism Management, or Education with a record of professional accomplishment in academia, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Specialization in Hospitality & Tourism Management is required.
  • 23 years of teaching experience at the postsecondary level
  • 23 years of administrative experience in an academic environment

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:


  • Excellent interpersonal and relational skills coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in instructing at a postsecondary level
  • Experience in working in academic operations and administration
  • Experience with Moodle or similar Learning Management Systems
  • Experience sustaining partnerships and collaborations with academic partners or agencies

Essential Functions:


  • Provide administrative assistance to the Program Director and the daytoday operations of the Hospitality & Tourism programs
  • Assist the Program Director with recruitment and onboarding of faculty and provide faculty with ongoing support
  • Ensure that all instructor documents are up to date and are handled with confidentiality and compliance
  • Establish and maintain open communication amongst instructors, students, administration and the management team
  • Support faculty with issues relating to resourcing, policies, and expectations
  • Identify needs for instructors' professional development (PD) seminars and contribute to the planning and implementation of PD
  • Contribute to the development and management of cocurricular student and faculty programs and activities
  • Monitor student numbers and the number of classes needed, and ensure there are adequate instructors
  • Teach at least one class in the program on a regular basis
  • Support other departments with regard to marketing, recruiting, and scheduling related to the program
  • Participate in program reviews
  • Remain current in the field and active in the profession as required by accreditation/regulatory bodies
  • Other duties as assigned
