Introduction

Manitoba Parks is seeking a qualified individual to fill the Park Works Supervisor 2 position in Bird's Hill Provincial Park.
Bird's Hill Provincial Park is located approximately 24 km north of Winnipeg.

Conditions of Employment:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba full stage class 5 driver's licence.

Must be physically capable of performing the duties assigned to the position including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required.

Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time under various weather conditions.

Qualifications: Essential:

Experience supervising staff including scheduling, performance management, training and recommending disciplinary action.

Experience in planning, organizing, and supervising construction or infrastructure projects.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and interact effectively with staff, user groups, and stakeholders.

Experience working independently with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize a complex workload with strict deadlines.

Experience providing cost estimates, working with financial budgets, purchasing, and inventory control.

Desired:

Experience and/or training in safe work practices and Workplace Safety and Health.

Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing equipment (such as 1/2 ton trucks, tractors, ride on mowers, ATV's, outboard motors, snowmobiles and other small and heavy equipment).

Possess a valid class 3 driver's licence with air brake endorsement.

Duties: Under the direction and accountable to the Park Works Supervisor 3, the incumbent will be involved in the planning, coordination, implementation and supervision of typical park maintenance, operations and construction activities in Bird's Hill Provincial Park. The incumbent will supervise staff, including performance management, scheduling, training and recommending disciplinary action of staff within the Labourer, Operator, and specialized trade classifications within Bird's Hill Provincial Park. The incumbent will be knowledgeable in the operation of drinking water, water distribution systems, and waste water collection systems. The incumbent will be able to operate and/or train staff in the operations of all park equipment and must function effectively in as a leader in a team environment.
