Your Opportunity

  • In accordance with Letter of Understanding #
  • Research Projects, and under the direct supervision of the College Professor, the Research Assistant assists and supports the supervisor with researchrelated activities pertaining to Computer Science and within the supervisor's research areas of interest and expertise.
    Functions and Duties
  • The Research Assistant will assist the supervisor by performing the following duties:
  • Assists with research related to the NSERC grant and in the writing of the research paper
  • Reviews and updates their knowledge in research methodology for educational and research purposes.
  • Assists in researching information for grants, research grants and research papers.
  • Searches literature sources pertaining to the relevant areas of research.
  • Assists in collecting, recording, compiling, summarizing data, and disseminating information.

Position Specific Functions

Education and Experience

  • Enrolled in a postsecondary program at Okanagan College
  • Students enrolled in the BCIS program, with knowledge of Java programming language and Oracle database management system will be preferred.
  • Prior work experience is an asset.
    Skills and Abilities
  • Current knowledge in research methodology for educational purposes.
  • Excellent research skills with the ability to synthesize data/information and develop/deliver findings and recommendations.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for working in a collegial and collaborative environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Welldeveloped organizational skills.
  • Detailoriented.
