The Opportunity:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create, implement, and maintain all H&S documentation as required, including H&S Manual, Policies, Procedures, Forms, Job Hazard Analysis, and Safe Work Practices.
  • Enroll employees for training and maintain training records & requirements.
  • Chair all H&S meetings, discussing H&S objectives, statistics, concerns, recommendations, etc. Document minutes of meetings and follow up on outstanding action items.
  • Manage JHSC/H&S Representatives, including committee elections, meetings, etc.
  • Visit construction job sites or coordinate with Project Managers to ensure H&S procedures are implemented in accordance with the OHSA and complete workplace violence and harassment assessment, and control measures.
  • Work with upper management to achieve COR status and maintain COR requirements by implementing health and safety policies on sites and in the office.
  • Facilitate regular job site inspections, ensuring all OH&S compliance, identifying hazards, and completing workplace inspections. Maintain data to monitor trends.
  • Review COR job site binders to ensure all forms are completed sufficiently by Site Supervisors and Project Managers (i.e., job site inspection reports, safety talks, hazard reports, tools and equipment inspections, workers orientations, first aid reports, etc.)
  • Assist in incident investigations (i.e., first aid, lost time injury, near miss, violence/harassment, etc.), including followup and reporting as required

Required Credentials:

  • Postsecondary education in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of OHSA and related Federal, Provincial, and local regulations
  • Previous experience with COR procedures in an engineering or construction organization
  • A Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Construction Safety Officer CSO is not required but is an asset
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license and clean abstracts are required
  • Ability to work overtime

  • Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record per CONSOR policy and insurance requirements
  • Perform work safely and follow CONSOR's Safety Manual

  • Ability to speak clearly to be understood; Ability to understand the speech of others
  • Long periods of sitting, use of computers for high volume, accurate data entry
