You as Supervisor, Plant Operations & Maintenance will:

  • Assist in planning, control and supervision of maintenance work and operation of all base building systems as well as interior and exterior building components at the Brampton Civic Hospital.
  • Ensuring the continuity of all services through availability of redundant equipment and the shift staff who are employed on a 24/7 basis as well as the various tradespeople who provide maintenance and repair service to the physical plant and building's elements.
  • Oversees daily routine and preventive maintenance works are completed on time and will play a key role in the development of preventive maintenance routines, frequencies and schedules, ensures the efficient utilization of manpower, supplies, utilities and equipment in a costeffective manner while providing quality service delivery to all patients, staff and visitors at the hospital.
  • They participate in a staff hiring, promotion, demotion and disciplinary process and provides appropriate training to the new employees.
  • Will also coordinate external contractors work for a variety of repairs and maintenance projects as well as assists in development and control of departmental annual budget and assessing all conditions and modifications to the plant equipment and buildings to identify life cycle capital projects.

Is this the right role for you?

  • Minimum of 3 years previous supervisory experience
  • Valid Ontario second class stationary engineer or Building operator certificate or trade license (Millwright, Electrician, Plumber or Steam Fitter)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proven leadership skills with excellent coaching, interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills
  • Excellent computer skills (excel, word, etc)
  • Preferred experience in CMMS's and experience in a preventative maintenance management program
  • Preferred college or university level education with equivalent work related knowledge of building operations & maintenance OR a valid Ontario third class stationary engineers certificate OR a trade license (Millwright, Electrician, Refrigeration Mechanic)
  • Ability to read mechanical, electrical and control drawings; knowledge of building automation systems, life safety system, electrical systems and HVAC including boiler, chiller, cooling tower, pumps, motors, heat exchanger and AHU.
  • Preferred previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
  • Experience supervising under the conditions of a collective agreement in a unionized environment
  • An enthusiastic approach to leadership
