Based in Toronto, Homes First has been providing supportive housing and shelter for over 35 years with a focus on the chronically homeless, people with complex mental health and addictions issues, and seniors.

About the Opportunity
Currently, Homes First is looking for dedicated Shelter Supervisors and Enhanced Services Supervisors to join our team in Toronto, Ontario on a full-time basis.
There are a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, and overnights, with the requirement to work one weekend day a week.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
Supervise a unionized workforce within the context of the Collective Agreement
Provide case management expertise and support to Shelter Staff
Provide brief crisis counseling, information, and referrals for applicants who cannot be placed immediately
Develop and implement programs focused on the optimization and continuous improvement of the performances and practices
Supervision and caseload management across case workers, including coordinating regular case conferencing
Quality assurance, reporting, and records oversight
Oversee staff in developing individualized case plans with designated participants and help participants achieve their goals
Manage employee performance and perform necessary administrative duties such as vacation planning, timekeeping, performance reviews, etc.
Implement and maintain a system for collecting relevant statistics needed for evaluation reports and funding proposals
Manage city-operated database, case management system, and billing system
Ensure effective communications with other departments within Homes First Society as well as with external agencies
Prioritize and assign shift responsibilities and duties to team members
Ensure that all documentation is completed to agency standards
Be able to fulfill any element of the Shelter Staff job description on an as-needed basis
Be willing and able to carry a 24-hour emergency pager on rotation
More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with people who are homeless, under-housed, and dealing with addictions and mental illness, and post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience performing assessment, advocacy, referral, and case management functions, with the ability to effectively prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
Knowledge of relevant laws, standards, and guidelines, including the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board
Knowledge of resources and services available in the community
Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organization skills
Supervisory experience in a unionized setting is an asset
Certificate of Completion of Homelessness Learning Hub's Harm Reduction for the Homelessness Sector is considered an asset
Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention and Intervention are assets
Please note that this role requires the ability to lift 20 pounds, as well as the ability to provide or conduct a criminal record check.
