Description

ServiceMaster Restore of Edmonton requires a Crew Chief who will primarily be responsible for leading the daily activities of Emergency staff.

The Crew Chief will lead, train, mentor and manage the daily on the job work activities of Emergency Technicians.


Position Overview


A ServiceMaster Crew Chief will be required to enter, lead and work job sites that have been affected by flooding, fires, mold and sewer back up.

Our employees are required to perform duties in homes, businesses as well as government buildings that have been affected by emergency situations.

Out of town work may be required for large losses and catastrophic events. Must be available for On Call shifts as scheduled.


Responsibilities

  • Mentors other technicians and guides them in the proper way to mitigate a loss
  • Sets a level of quality work performance for their crew to follow
  • Determines equipment and supplies needed for each loss.
  • Ensures client is receiving a high standard of care and superior quality of service.
  • Responsible for any incident and ensures prompt communicate with Project Manager so they are aware of all damage or accidents on job site.
  • Mixes and applies chemicals safely in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and WHMIS
  • Teaches good housekeeping techniques to ensure noncluttered, safe and organized worksites. This can be shown through maintaining a tidy and safe work environment for the employees, insured as well as any other individuals that may be onsite
  • Communicate effectively to set up schedule of completion with Dispatcher.
  • Leads and works with technicians on the emergency response team to attend losses such as flooding/sewer back up/fire/wind.
  • Confirms scope of work with Project Manager and/or dispatcher including water mapping as required.
  • Has the home owner(s) or approved authority sign off on the work authorization.
  • Manages all questions on site from homeowners/business owners in a professional, dignified, knowledgeable and calming manner.
  • Responsible for safety at each work site, conducts and documents safety meeting with compliance to both the Occupational Health and Safety Codes and company polices including performing a hazard assessment with their crew before beginning work on site. As well ensures compliance for all OH&S is followed by all personnel including sub trades on site
  • Photographs and video graphs the work site before, during and after emergency work especially preexisting damage. All photos uploaded to Restore daily.
  • Ensures water readings (Daily Psychometric Readings) are documented at every loss for both air humidity and structural.
  • Daily submission of accurate time sheets for self and crew members to payroll by reviewing time sheets and all paper work to ensure precision before handing it in the appropriate dispatcher.
  • Completes all necessary forms: Work Authorization, Daily Psychometric Readings, Equipment Activity Reports, Job Hazard Assessment, Tool Box talk, Consumables, Material Acquisition, Freezer Disclaimer and Contents Tracking Sheets at the competition of each emergency.
  • Provides the Project Manager with up to date reports on the status of the job at the end of each work day, and remains in continual contact to inform the Project Manager of any changes and calls upon all concerns. All updates are also put into Restore.
  • Collects all applicable samples for the Project Manager including proper labelling and bagging of samples.
  • Each day, every crew chief must call in a report on the job progress to Dispatch.
  • Provides clients if requested with SDS sheets for products used in their home.
  • Conducts vehicle maintenance inspections; cleans and maintain vehicles both inside and out.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of direct working experience in disaster restoration linked to fire/water loss or related
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license required
  • CSTS certification
  • Has a complete set of tools that is inventoried on a regular basis, basic carpentry skills and working knowledge of tools
  • Wears appropriate PPE and company attire/uniform at all times
  • Understands and implements standard protocols for Water Remediation, Mold, Asbestos and Contents handling depending on the type of loss.
  • Strong Leadership and Communication abilities
  • Proficient working and applied knowledge of demolition and tear outs of affected areas in both residential and commercial buildings of various sizes
  • Ability to remain calm in times of stress a chaotic situations
  • Knowledge and working ability to properly use equipment in an appropriate manner such as dehumidifiers, truck mount, airs scrubbers etc.
  • Must possess proficient knowledge of proper demolition procedures
  • Sound construction knowledge related to sites and terminology
  • Recognize any risks on site or if special PPE is required. Contact the Safety Officer on site to inform them of any risks.
  • All crew chiefs should have Asbestos awareness as they are required to collect
