Strive Living Society (Strive) is seeking a caring and enthusiastic individual to join our progressive non-profit organization as a Full-Time Child and Youth Residential Manager working at our residential house in North Vancouver.

Regular hours of work are:8 hour/day, 5 days/week

Pay rate: $33.77 per hour plus benefits upon meeting eligibility requirements.

  • Some benefits have eligibility requirements of surpassing three (3) months and securing a regular position of 20hrs/week or more. The benefits and criteria may change from time to time at the discretion of Strive.

The ideal applicant shall possess the ability to:

  • Collaborate with service recipients, family members, advocates, stakeholders, professionals, and personnel to ensure individual care plans are developed and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, authorize and allocate program expenditures within the operating budget. Assist senior management in preparing budgets. Prepare and maintain related documentation including Residential Expense Reports.
  • Liaise with community members, government organizations, families, officials, professionals, and organization staff to promote community involvement in the program.
  • Identify community services and activities and assist individuals to access them to achieve their ISP goals.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, training and supervision to residential personnel team.
  • Adhere to, promote and enforce Strive's Mission statement, Vision statement and Code of Ethics

Job qualifications include:


  • Experience working with children/youth with mental health concerns and aggressive behaviors are preferred.
  • Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Work or equivalent.
  • Two years management experience in residential or related setting and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Available to work 40 hours a week and be on call in case of emergencies.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and applicable legislation pertaining to the field of community living.
  • Knowledge of populations with disabilities, injuries, and/or complex health care needs.
  • Understanding of family dynamics and ability to work with family issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with individuals with disabilities.
  • Competency with challenging behaviors.
  • Superior organization and time management abilities. Able to meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to act in accordance with established policies and procedures on a daily basis and in the event of emergencies
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and is selfmotivated.
  • Ability to take direction and accept constructive criticism.
  • Ability to accept change and adapt to a variety of assignments.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Mandt Certification

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License
  • Driver's Abstract clear of related violations within the last five (5) years
  • Reliable personal vehicle for work purposes with 2 million third party liability
