Job Summary
The Activity Worker incorporates the SPECS (Social, Physical, Emotional, Cognitive and Spiritual) domains by planning a variety of recreation and leisure activities to promote the wellbeing and growth of our Substance Use Treatment Programs.
This role works as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Organizational Status*The Phoenix Society is an accredited, multi-service agency located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia dedicated to providing accessible services and opportunities to people who face barriers related to addiction, mental health, housing, education, criminal justice involvement and/or employment.
Work Performed
Under the direction of the Recreation Therapist, plans, prepares and carries out individual and group activities, such as table games, current events, sports activities, music, special events and community outings.
- Provides input and feedback with respect to program activities at regular planning meetings, such as resident participation during activities.
- Accompanies residents on community outings.
- Participates in team conferences, staff meetings, inservice education and provides input to resident care conferences.
- Organizes materials required for programs and advises the Recreation Therapist of supply needs.
- Accesses resident comfort funds for outings and shopping and completes documentation relating to use of resident monies.
- Provides direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrates related techniques as required.
- Organizes and maintains program activity areas.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications*- Grade 12, completion of recognized recreational courses plus two (2) years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset
- Class 5 driver's license with clean driver's abstract
- First Aid Certificate with

- Valid Foodsafe certificate
- Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required

Vaccination Requirement
