Preschool Counsellor
14 hours per week

School Year Contract


JOB SUMMARY


As a member of a department offering cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary support services to daycares, the Preschool Counsellor will offer consultation, intervention and collaborative leadership to daycares, administrators, educators, families and children with the express goal of enhancing the children's overall functioning in the CPE.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize a systems approach, conduct psychosocial assessments of children and families around daycarerelated issues
  • Identify developmental concerns
  • Consultation and collaboration with administrators and educators around both individual children and global daycare issues
  • Coordination of Ometz supplementary services in the daycare
  • Serving as a member of the daycare's children services team
  • Fulfilling administrative responsibilities as identified by department (assessments, referrals, and maintenance of dossiers on database)
  • Formulate and implement daycare and classroombased intervention plans
  • Participate in group work with children/classes, parents or educators, as needed
  • Present and take part in staff development programs with educators
  • Facilitate parent workshops
  • Serve on agency departmental, interdepartmental, interagency committees

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in psychoeducation, social work or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in early childhood development & family systems
  • Good knowledge of Jewish & Orthodox Community
  • Bilingual: English and French. We require English communication skills due to the majority of our clientele being English speaking
  • Eligibility for appropriate professional order membership

This position requires the selected applicant to undergo vulnerable sector police check

Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 10 months

Part-time hours: 14 per week
