Supply Chain Manager - Calgary, Canada - Caltrax Inc
Description
CALTRAX is a full service independent railcar repair company providing service in Western Canada from two facilities located in Calgary and Raymond Alberta.
Reporting to the Director, Operations, this position will be responsible for locating suppliers, negotiating company's purchasing agreements and making sure material and products are on hand to meet the job demands.
You must have a drive to succeed, be eager to implement change and ready to support a dynamic and growing team.
Responsibilities Include:
- Purchase materials that meet the quantity and quality expectations of the customer
- Developing, implementing and maintaining SCM strategies that increase efficiency and speed of supply operations
- Negotiate contracts with vendors
- Monitoring cost and staying within budgets
- Track inventory and restock goods in a timely manner
- Evaluate requests to make appropriate recommendations before quickly and accurately sourcing required goods and services
- Work with operations department to determine appropriate inventory levels
- Identify opportunities for vendor consolidation, and to leverage the organization's purchasing power
- Execute and participate in performance, business, and financial reviews with suppliers, based on KPIs
- Preparing and submitting weekly, monthly and quarterly counts and reporting
- Remain current on supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practice sourcing
- Respond to requests for information from operations team
- Establish standardized reporting on vendor performance in order to optimize vendor management
- Develop policies and processes where necessary with a focus on continuous performance improvement
- Manage a team of procurement professionals in carrying out duties.
Requirements and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree
- SCMP Designation a definite asset
- 35 years' experience in the rail or heavy machinery industry
- Negotiation experience with an ability to resolve conflicts, address disputes, and negotiate agreements
- Strong understanding of complex contract language with a strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Resultsdriven mindset, with capability to problem solve using analytical thinking
- Excellent relationship building capability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience leading a team in meeting objectives

Pay:
$70,000.00-$95,000.00 per year

Experience:
- supply chain: 1 year (preferred)
