Vice President Credit REM


Client Experience

  • Creates a collaborative environment by engaging with VP's in routines to collaborate on meeting client's credit needs through contribution and proactive support for SLR updating, documentation and follow up.
  • Coach the team to take ownership of client problems escalating concerns to appropriate partners
  • Inspires team to work with colleagues to execute a coordinated client management strategy as guided by the client prioritization and annual review requirements
  • Available to be engaged with Associate Directors to support immediate client needs

Client Solutions and New Client Acquisition / New Authorized Credit Growth

  • Active engagement within Real Estate industry events.
  • Fully engaged & knowledgeable with key FI/ legal partners and stakeholders for complex syndication transactions.
  • Coach and influence your team to deliver credit solutions to meet or exceed client needs and proactively identify additional opportunities to grow products / services
  • Manages the credit renewal process for the region in collaboration with the VP's, in an effective and proactive manner with consideration to fluctuating volumes, time required to complete analysis, structuring, documenting and negotiating transactions and balance capacity as needed to meet the needs of the portfolio.
  • Works with the CFS relationship team and CAG/GRM partners to monitor that credit solutions are provided to clients in a timely manner

Employee Capability and Engagement

  • Demonstrates commitment to team work and collaboration by coaching, mentoring and assisting colleagues to meet the credit needs of all clients
  • Coach the team members to maximize the use of technology to follow through on all client strategies, sales activities and opportunities as well as to build corporate memory and enable the continuity of client servicing
  • Engages in workforce planning with RVP and maintain an active talent pipeline; support employees in understanding and navigating career options and provide clarity and guidance on their developmental activities
  • Assists the RVP in providing credit coaching to all VP's on structuring complex transactions, introducing credit process improvement, policy changes and trends or issues related to the portfolio
  • Continues to develop a centre of expertise in complex Real Estate credit that will support the field in training and advice

Business and Risk Management

  • Partners with VP REMs to ensure market credit needs are supported
  • Coaches team to work collaboratively and respectfully with GRM partners.
  • In partnership with Portfolio Quality Manager, provide expert advice to VP's REM to help them resolve complex issues related to ongoing portfolio management
  • Exercises good judgment when making all decisions, balancing shareholder risk and client experience.
  • Keeps up to date on all communications including changes to RBC policy and procedures and ensure others do as well.
  • Manages (supports guides and coaches), Single Name Risk Rating (SNRR), Expired BRRs, SLR process all within established goals and guidelines. Collaborates closely with VPs to ensure portfolio metrics are met, watchlist accounts are managed proactively.

Education

  • Minimum postsecondary diploma/degree, ideally in Commerce, Business Administration or related experience

Nice-to-have

  • MBA, Accounting designation (CPA/CA/CGA/CMA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
