Materials Management Continuous Improvement Coordinator


Reporting to the Change and Continuous Improvement Manager, the role will be responsible for supporting operations with the development and implementation of process and business improvements.

In this role the continuous improvement coordinator will appreciate customer and business needs, capture process functional requirements, translate into business specifications and develop effective processes and solutions.

This role will support the deployment of improvements.


Key duties include:

  • Assist with and execute business improvement projects within warehouse & material management.
  • Working with the materials management team to help identify improvement projects within warehouse and materials management.
  • Following a lean improvement methodology, to undertake reviews of current ASCO/client practices to gain a comprehensive understanding of the warehouse operations and processes across different sites.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the operations through sharing best practice, standard work and lean improvements.
  • Provide specific support for the development of WMS within the operations, identify where the current process can be improved through lean and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and support a lean culture across the warehouse operations through 2second lean.
  • Assist the warehouse teams to embed operations plans, competency tracking and training.
  • Liaise with internal operations teams to target problem areas, agree projects with line manager and work to develop solutions.
  • Assist with lean and business improvement projects.
  • Working within the warehouse managers to develop lean processes and ways of working and incorporate these into daytoday operations.
  • Identify appropriate metrics and measures at the process and business levels, build autocollection of data into the process architecture, specify reporting requirements and oversee the development and implementation of key performance indicators.
  • Undertake regular audits of processes, system data and output to assure that processes, solutions and systems are being used properly and that data input is accurate and consistent
  • Work closely with the client to clearly understand their requirements, ensuring that all are covered within the scope of work, liaising regularly to ensure they are aware of the project progress.
  • Prepare and document training guides for staff on processes including ERP and WMS operating systems.
  • Support technology deployment across the warehousing and materials business areas.

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)

  • Demonstrable experience of continuous improvement in a warehousing context
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills at all levels (including front line staff and senior leadership) including the ability to present to groups, facilitate meetings/workshops and interact with associates throughout the organisation
  • Experience in process capture and mapping, process analysis, quality systems, process design, continuous improvement, change management and lean6sigma methodology.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand the needs of both ASCO and our clients, delivering measurable solutions that grow the businesses and increase process effectiveness.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP system
  • Customerfocused with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships, both internal and external.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work standalone, demonstrating initiative and ownership, while a positive team player.
  • Motivated to achieve the highest standards of performance and customer support, with demonstrable experience in maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Solutions based with strong planning, organising and numeric skills, and an excellent attention to detail ensuring accuracy and clarity at all times.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • 58 years working experience in Materials management.
  • Yellow belt Lean 6 Sigma qualification or demonstrable experience of continuous improvement in a warehousing setting.
  • Full Canadian Driving Licence

Desirable Qualifications:


  • Green Belt Lean 6 Sigma Certification;
  • Train the Trainer Certification.
