Key Tasks & Accountabilities

Responsible for assigning tasks to Shop employees according to their skill and knowledge and ensuring the work is being completed safely and efficiently without sacrificing quality or missing delivery dates;
Responsible for organizing the workflow by monitoring progress throughout the shift;
Responsible for employee development through training, verification of competency and monitoring of employee performance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise direct reports to ensure the group is meeting delivery times, quality and safety targets;
Prioritize and coordinate all shop work to ensure all jobs are completed as per the Shop Schedule. Notify the Branch Coordinator and/or Repair Manager of any variances as soon as possible;
Ensure Shop staff are following SOPs and completing the required inspections, measurements, etc. Verify that the proper documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner;
Verify that materials are in stock sourcing materials to complete jobs as needed;
Complete tasks or perform standard duties of a journeyman Millwright in order to get the jobs done and complete all equipment maintenance as required.
Promote and maintain a positive work environment, encourage a culture with a growth mindset to improve employee engagement and teamwork;
Manage the performance of direct reports by providing training to SOPs and to safety & quality expectations. Provide guidance and feedback to ensure expectations are being and continue to be met;
Conduct performance appraisals, goal setting, midyear reviews within the set timelines;
With the assistance of HR, execute performance management and progressive discipline as required;
Ensure compliance of all safety policies and operating practices, identify deficiencies and take corrective action as necessary;
Inspect work areas for safety hazards and observe employees for safe work habits;
Respond to safety incidents quickly and with appropriate corrective actions;
Ensure Quality standards are being met and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for our Shop;
Investigate and resolve assigned NCRs as required;
Promote and participate in the continuous improvement activities;
