BUYER
DEPARTMENT - PURCHASING

DIRECT REPORT - PURCHASING MANAGER

LOCATION - WELLAND, ON


JOB SUMMARY
The Buyer will report directly to the purchasing manager of Winoa Canada.


This position will be responsible for executing activities related to ordering direct and indirect material requirements to support manufacturing, maintenance and general supply needs for Winoa Operations.

You are responsible for the development and maintenance of a specific group of commodities and suppliers.


You will need to maintain proper levels of inventory, optimizing end to end costs and overseeing the timely delivery of materials needed to fulfill our operations requirements.

You will be responsible to source materials, manage and maintain existing supplier relationships and the development of new ones.

You will be responsible to negotiate price, quantity and delivery schedules with suppliers.

You will ensure optimum quality and delivery of components.


This position will have significant interaction and communication with multiple internal stake holders in Production, Accounting and Supply Chain within the North American zone.

Direct Material Purchasing
  • Negotiate, Create and optimize purchasing process for:
  • Scrap material
  • Alloy material
  • Refractory material
  • Packaging material
  • Electrode Units

InDirect Material Purchasing
  • Negotiate, Create and optimize purchasing process for:
  • Plant supplies and services
  • Maintenance and Spare Parts

PO Management for Direct and InDirect Materials:

  • Accurately process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders
  • Maintain purchase orders, confirmations and open orders
  • Track, monitor and maintain purchase order schedules
  • Support accounting dept on invoice discrepancies in a timely manner

Supplier Management:


  • Maintaining positive supplier relations by routine meetings to review performance, discuss issues and opportunities for improvements
  • Maintain supplier information, costs and contact information in our system
  • Sourcing new suppliers

Cost Management Initiatives:


  • Identify areas of cost reduction and take initiatives for material cost optimization
  • Conduct appropriate plan of actions to:
  • Reduce end to end costs in purchasing direct/indirect materials
  • Strive to achieve our objectives (best value for money / deadlines / environmental impacts and energy aspects)

Reporting:


  • Documentation management (Contracts, Material Specifications, Supplier performance)
  • Cost tracking reports (Raw materials, consumables, services)
  • Update of cost savings
  • Monitoring and reporting of commodity prices in the market and present to purchasing manager on monthly basis

Communication:


  • Interact and collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders (production, finance, supply chain)

Other Duties:


  • Day to Day problem solving, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with corporate purchasing policy and procedures
  • Support with the monthly inventory count process
  • Conduct Supplier Audits at their facilities
  • Work on special projects as required
  • Support with other duties as assigned by the manager

EDUCATION

  • 5 or more years experience in purchasing, procurement and supply chain
  • Postsecondary education in Procurement, Supply Chain or Business Admin preferred
  • CSCP, CPIM or Procurement APICS designation is an asset

SPECIFIC SKILLS

  • Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures
  • Knowledge in commodity purchasing
  • Experience in evaluating material requirements and work order processes
  • Knowledge or Experience in the Steel Industry is an asset
  • Infor M3 or other modern ERPs is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS-Office (Microsoft Excel Advanced skills)
  • Able to integrate multiple and complex files.

LANGUAGE

  • English
  • Second language is an asset (French, Spanish, Portuguese)

Salary:
$60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
