Description
Collaborate with Operations Manager to plan and implement a program of scheduled preventative maintenance for buses and fleet vehicles- Test drive buses and other fleet vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly; appropriate driver's license required
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform mechanical repairs on buses and fleet vehicles
- Respond to emergency service calls for stranded buses and other vehicles
- Estimate time, material, and equipment needed for assigned jobs
- Make recommendations to the Manager for ordering and stocking repair parts and supplies
- Maintain the shop area in a clean, orderly and safe condition
- Maintain maintenance and repair records for the vehicles in the fleet
- Perform complete safety inspections as required
- Operate buses and fleet vehicles as required
- Write requisitions, order parts, and ensure parts are received and entered into inventory in a timely manner
- Coach and instruct apprentice mechanics as assigned
- Adhere to WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety legislative requirements; wear protective equipment at all times in the garage
- Other duties as required
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ year(s) experience as heavy equipment mechanic
- 310T licence
- 310S licence is an asset
- Past experience working on school buses is an asset
- Experience using Microsoft Office and other database programs
- WHMIS certification, First Aid certification and Health & Safety training is an asset
Work Environment
- Garage is located in Perth, ON
- Garage environment; exposure to and working with a variety of chemicals
- Fastpaced environment; may experience frequent interruptions
- Manual dexterity and handeye coordination
- Standing, pushing, pulling, bending, crouching, reaching, laying under vehicles for extended periods
- Ability to lift 100 lbs
- Driving is required
