Job Summary
Free Play for Kids is searching for highly motivated and enthusiastic Multi-Sport Coaches to join our team. If you have experience coaching or playing all kinds of sports such as soccer, hockey, basketball, or flag football, and love working with kids of all ages, we want you to join us


Education & Qualifications

  • Working towards or completed, a degree or diploma in Physical Education, Sport and Recreation, Kinesiology, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent from a recognized postsecondary institution.
  • Experience coaching /leading youth sports teams and/or extensive playing experience.
  • Standard First Aid Certification and CPR training or ability to obtain quickly.
  • Clear uptodate criminal and vulnerable sector check.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Valid certifications in coaching would be considered a major asset.

Responsibilities

  • Working with youth between the ages of 812 (Free to Play program) by facilitating programming in collaboration with a Youth and Sport Team Lead and other Multi-Sport Coaches.
  • Leading practices, games, and activities with the ultimate goal of keeping kids focused in sessions, having fun, and being safe.
  • Able to travel to various locations within Edmonton.
  • Adhering to the company's uniform policy by wearing the provided name tag and vest at all times while on duty.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with team members, parents, and stakeholders.
  • Completing additional training and certifications as required through the Free Play training program, such as NCCP and Safe Sport courses.
  • Modeling key organization values through interactions with all internal and external partners and team members.
  • Participating in work assignments arising from special events, special projects, or overall program initiatives.
  • Representing the community that Free Play serves.
  • Understanding the power of sport as a tool for social good.

Position Conditions

  • This is a parttime paid position of approximately 1015 hours per week.
  • Hours of work are determined by program schedule and are typically Monday
  • Wednesday and Friday from 3:00 pm 5:30 pm and Thursdays from 2:00 pm 5:30 pm.
  • Job is performed in schools and recreation settings, but work settings may vary depending on projects.
  • Free Play for Kids respectfully operates on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional gathering place for diverse Indigenous peoples including the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway/Saulteaux/Anishinaabe, Inuit, and many others whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to influence our community._
