- Build resiliency with children and youth by providing individual counselling and supportive programming
- Work collaboratively within the direct service team to assess the needs of individual children and families
- Provide consultation, support and education to families
- Demonstrate healthy behavior management techniques appropriate to each child's developmental stage and ability
- Complete safety assessment and explore risk management strategies with clients
- Provide childcare to families in shelter
- Develop and implement supportive and engaging programming for children and youth
- Connect families with community supports through appropriate referrals
- Facilitate groups/workshops
- Comprehensive understanding of issues related to family violence, including a strong understanding of the links between violence, trauma, addictions and mental health, and homelessness
- Proven ability to respond to complex needs of clients in a counselling capacity
- A clear understanding of group dynamics

- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification

Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) has an exciting opportunity in which you get to work within the Shelter Services team to ensure a strong, innovative support system is in place for women and children impacted by gender-based violence in Northumberland County.
