Network Operations Manager


The Network Operations Manager is the primary person responsible for the operational support of Sunwire's multi-site network and telecommunications infrastructure, primarily through leading and mentoring a group of Network Technicians and Engineers.

They are responsible for strategic planning and implementation, helping to ensure that the network and communications infrastructure has the capacity, speed and security required for the present as well as supporting the strategic needs of the business.

They will be heavily involved in procurement, and retirement of network devices and software while maintaining a 99.999% uptime rate for all systems.

Network Operations Managers also play a part in the hiring and training of new employees.

JOB DUTIES:


  • Plan, direct, maintain and coordinate network installation, maintenance, and operations.
  • Manage network team and create troubleshooting and maintenance protocols.
  • Configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and problem solve network problems
  • Advise in procurement of network equipment and software, including receiving, physical installation and configuration, including disposing of equipment no longer needed according to policy.
  • Ensure that proper network and communication hardware and software inventories are up to date. Maintain all license and support contract documentation.
  • Develop and enforce change management procedures.
  • Confirm compatibility and manage impact to business of all new equipment and changes.
  • Respond to all network outages or performance issues and direct the team to execute necessary repair or configuration changes.
  • Manage all contracted and outsourced services, such as telecom, voice and video, including hiring vendors.
  • Ensure the installation of firmware patches and updates to all network devices and software are performed in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve network security measures and monitoring.
  • Oversee access rights and permissions policies as required by the business.

  • Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, iptables, Apache, Nginx, Bind, MySQL, eJabberd, Radius, heartbeat, mdadm)
  • IPTV (ffmpeg, HLS streaming, multicast)
  • FreeBSD
  • Hardware (custom build PC and servers, RAID setup)
  • Windows server (OpenVPN and general system administration)
  • Effective analytical, planning, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Must be able to perform planned and unplanned tasks after hours when required.
  • Must be able to be part of the emergency afterhours oncall rotation

$75,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
