Position Summary


As the HSE Manager you will plan, manage, execute, and control safety process, education, and innovation across two active companies.

Working closely with the Operations Management and Senior Management teams in both groups they help to guide overall project safety from process and procedure to project specific planning, to training mentorship and guidance for Supervisory, Site, and HSE personnel.

This position reports directly to the General Superintendents in both groups and to the President, with a focus on continuous growth and improvement towards a safety focus at all times.


As a HSE Manager your key accountabilities will involve:

  • Translating business strategies to comply with health and safety protocols.
  • Works to help educate and mentor the project HSE team.
  • Develops and maintains a respectful and productive relationship with all stakeholders.
  • Manages cross functional safety teams and stakeholders (GC, Trades, Client, etc.) throughout the projects.
  • Ensures all team members have read and understood project specific HSE plans for each project and are appropriately trained with regards to overall safety process and procedure.
  • Conducts site visits and spot audits to support field team and help educate workers and staff
  • Providing leadership to employees and management on health and safety strategy.
  • Contribute safety feedback in the handover meetings of newly assigned project(s) with preconstruction and operations group.
  • Work in collaboration with the operations team to prepare project specific safety plans, including scope of work definition, technical requirements, project specific inspection requirements, and project schedule constraints as they relate to HSE.
  • Work with the General Superintendents to establish and complete, monitor, and refine safety and environmental plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all Occupational Health & Safety Acts/Construction Safety Regulations applicable to the province or location in which the project is being executed.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations on safety standards, governance, and procedures to continuously improve the internal project practices and HSE manual.
  • Ensure all works meet, and or, exceed federal, provincials and municipal laws and standards.
  • Stay up to date on relevant health and safety developments in the industry.
  • Perform safety audits and inspections, prepare written reports of findings, and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures were indicated following up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Conduct post accident investigation and prepare reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
  • Develop post incident learnings or corrective actions to prevent further incidents or better educate the team.
  • Maintaining consistency in HSE documentation for format and content, including editing and proofreading documents.
  • Keep the files up to date in the different project folders (SharePoint, SiteDocs, Project Files) weekly.
  • Manage the overall Safety file layout as well as safety document interpretations. (Ensure the most current documents are easily identifiable.)
  • Manage SiteDocs for all active projects, ensuring the most recent data is uploaded and available.
  • Review project location and specific requirements based on geographical location and Organizations having authority to clearly understand requirements for submittals and project documentation.
  • Set up of project in SiteDocs and ensure appropriate safety files and folders are in place for each project.
