Purpose of Position

Key Responsibilities
- a. REGULAR RESPONSIBILITIES_

  • Understanding the technical range and potential of the Aga Khan Museum Auditorium and other public spaces for all programming including Education, and Special Events.
  • Overseeing and provide guidance/expertise in expectations for lighting, sound system and rigging for Museum performances.
  • Managing the provision of production services to exhibitions, performing arts programming, education, private hires, and special events.
  • Overseeing the recruitment and management of crew in close collaboration of the Technical Director and Production Coordinator relevant to the shows and verifying timesheets.
  • Developing and managing event/show/performancespecific budgets (HR/equipment) and providing guidance on quotes for AV requirements for such activities and private hire events.
  • Establishing a framework or system that assesses the risks related to programs/events and ensures that steps have been taken to mitigate the risks.
  • Preparing the production plan of shows and performances liaising with the production personnel of the group preevent; during event; posteven as well as managing all setup.
  • Ensuring the Production Coordinator has established a minutebyminute schedule for all events and executes events from a technical perspective.
  • Liaising with vendors for the delivery and pickup of rented equipment and consultants involved in supplying and guiding digital content production and broadcasting.
  • Supporting all departments, in collaboration with the Technical Director, to plan and manage the technical production requirements (AV, lighting, rigging, technical plans and plots, including capturing and broadcasting digital content as required) of their events and installations.
  • Maintaining the auditorium and related equipment, as well as other AV equipment throughout the Museum (e.g., Diwan, Patron's Lounge, Classrooms, Meeting Rooms, and any outdoor equipment). This includes ensuring that daily, weekly, and monthly minor repairs and maintenance are performed.
  • Liaising with the Marketing and Communications department as well as relevant programing departments in the creation of digital content for multiple purposes in the Museum, including for uploads on the website.
  • Overseeing the digitizing of existing and archived content (exhibitions, lectures, performances, etc.) and liaising with Marketing and Communications to upload on the website.
  • Any other duties assigned by the line manager.
- b. PERIODIC RESPONSIBILITIES_

  • Developing and updating polices and standard operating procedures relating to staff, crew, and vendor activities.
  • Scheduling crew and managing vendors for maintenance as appropriate.
  • Developing and maintaining a preventative and deferred maintenance schedule.
  • Participating in (and at times leading) and act as key contributor on teams facilitating the production and broadcasting/disseminating of digital content.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with minimum 5 years' proven experience in the performing arts sector and an expert within his/her field with specialized knowledge and interest in lighting, sound, video or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • In addition to staff management and financial skills, the Production Manager must have detailed knowledge of all production disciplines (both live and digital productions) including a thorough understanding of the interaction of these disciplines during the production process. This may involve dealing with matters ranging from the


procurement of staff, materials, and services, to freight, customs coordination, telecommunications, labour relations, logistics, information technology, government liaison, venue booking, scheduling, event operations management, and managing delay problems and workplace safety.
