Position summary

The ESS plays a pivotal role in investigating and resolving issues, managing potential and identified problems, and maintaining data integrity of the employment lifecycle process.

The position is responsible for oversight of all submission queues, prioritization of work, addressing any backlog issues, monitoring letters in flight, sharing updates with the team and running monthly reports.


Duties

  • Provides operational support in maintaining the business continuity of the employment services team by distributing and monitoring workload and identifying performance gaps and recommending solutions
  • Responsible for providing information and support for all audits related to all employment actions
  • Acts as a resource for ELA and identifies training needs of ELA's through analysis of recurring errors and problems and develop a training plan to address those needs
  • Provides ongoing training to HR colleagues in CoE on specialized employment processes and provides consultation on how to administer the terms and conditions of the agreements
  • Audit system data regarding terms and conditions of employment for all staff on a monthly basis through queries and investigation to ensure compliance with Collective Agreement, legislation, and policies and to correct data integrity issues or discrepancies.
  • Review daily work queues, dashboards and run queries and reports to assess and prioritize workload and distribution of tasks
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve internal system business processes, tools, and automation.
  • Include identified issues in the training plans, procedures, resources and knowledge based articles
  • Works with the HR Services leadership and Service Innovation team to find efficiencies and improve both support and academic processes.
  • Participate in projects for process improvement and other opportunities to reduce duplication.
  • Provides business process advice to project teams during system upgrades, enhancement projects or service reviews

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a related University degree or diploma, along with extensive experience in a unionized human resource setting, preferably in a postsecondary education setting
  • A Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation is an asset
