JOB SUMMARY
Niagara Region currently has an opening for a student/intern placement in our Public Health Department. The position is available in January 2024 in the Medical Division.


The selected student/intern will assist with the implementation of the Health Equity Strategic Plan and other Health Equity related initiatives.

The mission of the strategic plan is to maximize everyone's opportunities for health and wellbeing through:

mobilizing data, evidence, and knowledge; delivering programs where people are; collaborating with and enabling partners and stakeholders; and advocating for equitable policies and programs.

The student/intern will assist with conducting literature reviews, environmental scans, analyzing data, writing reports, and engaging within Public Health and in the community.


EDUCATION

  • Must be enrolled in/returning to fulltime postsecondary studies, or be within one year of graduating postsecondary studies
  • Master of Public Health coop student preferred

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of Social Determinants of Health and Health Equity
  • Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods

SKILLS

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as selfdirected and/or with mínimal supervision
