About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a
regular full-time Director, Strategic Planning, and Integration Management to join our dynamic
Medical Affairs and Innovation team.


The
Medical Affairs and Innovation team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing oversight for the Centre for Innovation, organ and stem cell donation and transplantation, utilization, donor and clinical services, medical microbiology, and epidemiology.

The team ensures that Canadian Blood Services' medical and scientific support is provided to the ongoing operations of every aspect of their work.

In this role, you will lead a series of strategic planning and integration management activities for the Medical Affairs and Innovation division


These responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership to the MAI division on strategy planning, execution, reporting, and risk management, and facilitating the annual development of key focus area plans.
  • Developing and facilitating the annual division planning processes, including the development of annual goals, measures, performance plans and budgets.
  • Facilitating integration activities within the division and with other Canadian Blood Services divisions in support of corporate integrated planning processes to ensure execution of key strategic and operational priorities.
  • Supporting the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Innovation in the area of issue management and executive committee support, including issues identification, analyses, and development of recommendations.
  • Leading the portfolio management processes within the division, including the development of proposals and business cases.
  • Leading and directing division project managers assigned to strategic initiatives to ensure compliance to corporate project and change management processes and achievement of intended benefits.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your excellent planning and organizational skills, you will own the division planning, execution, and reporting process. Identify risks and issues to executing strategy, and work with MAI leadership to resolve roadblocks and escalate to vicepresident as required.
  • Drawing on your attention to detail and advanced problemsolving skills, you will lead the creation of all planning documents, including Key Focus Area plans, Division Annual Plans and Priorities, quarterly performance, and risk reports. Work with MAI leadership to identify budget requirements and recommend modifications at a division and/ or program level to address surpluses or deficits to vicepresident.
  • Utilizing your exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, you will maintain constructive relationships with all departments within the division to achieve results; member of the corporate Integrated Planning Working Group to ensure crosscorporate collaboration in executing corporate priorities.
  • Concentrating on your knowledge and experience, you will own the portfolio and project management processes within the MAI division, including guidance on corporate practice and reporting requirements. Prepare quarterly project performance reports. Provide leadership in identifying and mitigating risks to installation and realization of benefits and liaise with divisional leadership and other divisional portfolio leads as required.
  • Focusing on your ability to lead and work collaboratively across diverse teams, you will provide leadership and guidance to division projects. Direct project management resources to ensure projects remain on track and focused on benefit realization. Chair project steering committees as delegated by the initiating sponsor.
