The Opportunity:

Primarily responsible for conducting day-to-day compliance oversight activities for the BGO group of companies, including for BentallGreenOak (Canada) Limited Partnership ("BentallGreenOak Canada"), BGO Capital (Canada) Inc.

("BGO Capital"), and/or its global affiliates.

The Analyst, Compliance may also assist in the implementation and oversight of group level risk and compliance policies and procedures applicable to the BGO group of companies.

BGO is a leading, global real estate investment management advisor and a globally recognized provider of real estate services. BentallGreenOak Canada provides real estate investment advisory and management services to its clients. BGO Capital is a Canadian securities registered portfolio manager, investment fund manager, and exempt market dealer. BGO is a part of SLC Management, the institutional asset management business of Sun Life Financial Inc.


What You Will Do:


  • Assist with implementing and maintaining compliance policies and procedures, including Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing ("AML/ATF"), Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption ("ABAC"), Privacy, Code of Business Conduct and Compliance Manuals, in accordance with regulatory requirements and firm policies.
  • Perform compliance monitoring and testing of controls, including controls that are required for oversight of securities regulated activities. This may include performing initial and ongoing AML/ATF name screening, helping monitor the conduct of registered representatives, and other routine compliance reviews and testing, as required.
  • Assist with regulatory filings.
  • Assist in administering compliance training.
  • Assist in conducting compliance risk assessments.
  • Assist with maintaining BGO's Corporate Business Continuity program.
  • Special adhoc projects as required.

Who You Are:

Education - A bachelor's degree;

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a compliance role, for example, with a Canadian financial services or wealth management firm;
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the National Registration Database ("NRD") is an asset;
  • Knowledge of provincial securities regulatory requirements applicable to a portfolio manager, investment fund manager and an exempt market dealer is an asset, or the equivalent in the U.S.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian commercial real estate investment market is an asset;
  • Strong analytical skills, with a focus on critical thinking and deductive reasoning;
  • Should have the ability to draft clear and professional correspondence;
  • Impeccable ethics and strong judgment;
  • A reliable and resourceful team player who is assertive, enthusiastic, and diplomatic.
  • Ability to work well within a small and geographically dispersed team and collaborate with internal business groups and individuals;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments in a changing environment with competing priorities;
  • Microsoft Office skills;

Communication & Relationship Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and business partners;
