ASSISTANT MANAGER SENIORS HOUSING
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Manager Seniors Housing, the Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of Rotary House Lodge and the self-contained properties, which constitute the Seniors Housing division of Wood Buffalo Housing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures compliance with Supportive Living Accommodation Licensing Regulation, Lodge Assistance Program Regulation, Residential Tenancies Act and any other relevant legislation and regulation.
- Administer and maintain departmental budgets.
- Ability to manage complex and difficult situations in relation to seniors.
- Ability to communicate/interact with seniors in a fun and positive way is essential.
- In collaboration with the Manager, review the eligibility and approval of applicants.
- Review of income verification on all prospective residents.
- Monitor and maintain annual income reviews.
- Determine monthly rental amounts and adjustments of rents in accordance with regulation/legislation.
- Attend and participate in resident communication meetings.
- Ensure all efforts are made to collect outstanding rent and damages.
- Create and complete purchase orders and work orders.
- Identify and arrange for minor and routine maintenance repairs.
- Prepare monthly rental report for submission.
- Fill in for the Manager as designate when required.
- Be available for the regular rotation of Emergency oncall.
- Must be able to respond accordingly in emergency situations.
- Create and maintain staff schedules.
- Promote staff morale.
- Ensure team compliance with OH&S standards and workplace safety standards.
- Supervise staff workloads, monitor completion of duties, and implement necessary changes.
- Assist the Manager with training and orientating new/existing staff.
- Ability to provide thorough feedback to enhance individual performance, provide team members with written performance appraisals.
- Interact professionally with residents, family members, coworkers, contractors, and management.
- Working collaboratively with community agencies as required.
- Other duties as required.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3 years with supervisory experience.
- Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member and to make decisions in a complex environment.
- Experience dealing with highly confidential information and sensitive issues.
- Ability to deal with vulnerable populations and make appropriate referrals.
- Exemplary customer satisfaction skills, including dealing effectively with residents, family members, co
- Ability to be compassionate and understanding when managing complex issues.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational/time management skills are essential to this position as well as good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Yardi.
- Ability to work within a unionized environment.
- Exhibit a desire to work with seniors.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A University degree or Community College diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Property Management, Health Care/Social Services or relevant field.
- A combination of education and work experience acceptable to the employer will be considered.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Work one weekend a month.
- Rotating oncall duty.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License.
- Acceptable criminal record check.
- Proof of vaccination for Coid19.
