Role Overview:


This role is responsible for the management, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of identified and new mid-level and major donors, and support of the major gifts team's fundraising activities.

As a member of the High-End Giving team, this role will participate in the development of strategies to achieve department-wide goals.


Location:

University Ave, Toronto, Ontario.

A flexible work agreement policy in place allowing employees to work on a hybrid schedule, working remotely and opportunity to work in-office.


This role includes, but not limited to:

  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level and major gift individual and foundation donors, and prospects to attain specific annual goals as part of the overall major gift and planned gift targets.
  • Secure and build upon the prospect pool, and pipeline and maintain existing and new relationships through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship calls.
  • Manage the High-End Giving team's proposal submission process and support in the maintenance of proposal calendar to ensure timely submission of all required materials.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify, cultivate, and solicit new grants. Focus on diverse communities and networks, engaging them with Diabetes Canada.
  • Participate in, and remain accountable to, setting goals and strategies to meet revenue objectives.
  • Support revenue tracking of major and midlevel gifts, expecting funds and gift designations.
  • Contribute towards the development and implementation of donor cultivation and stewardship events.
  • Schedule and manage portfolio's stewardship activities to optimize accountability and ensure donor engagement and retention — including maintaining regular communications at key times of the year, arranging stewardship events, and working with the Mission team to collect information for the development of impact reports.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications and Fund Development colleagues to ensure strategic goals and objectives are incorporated into all marketing and communication activities to meet the specific needs of various Diabetes Canada customer and audience segments.
  • Support projects and processes to develop, operate and measure reinforcement of the Diabetes Canada image.
  • 35 years of major and midlevel gift fundraising
  • University degree or diploma in fundraising, communications, or related discipline
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into compelling and strategic material.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in the nonprofit sector.
  • Ability to develop, enhance and deliver impactful presentations in a resultdriven style to various audiences and partnerships.
  • Experience with data management and CRM databases.
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Ability to travel on occasion.
