  • Overview:
  • This position is part of the WCAN Technical Team. This team supports Lafarge customers though New Product Development (NPD), Innovative customer solutions and customer support.
  • Within this remit the Lab Technician will work as part of a team and carry out concrete, aggregate and cement lab work as directed.
  • Responsibilities
  • Follows lab Operating Procedures and Safe Working Procedures for all lab tasks and equipment
  • Preparation, batching, mixing and testing of concrete mix designs and cement/cementitious materials (strength, slump, durability, particle size etc).
  • Aggregate testing (grading, durability etc).
  • Accurately documents results/observations and maintains paperwork and/or computer databases
  • Collates test results and inputs into files/databases ensures that all data is filed in accordance with the QMS
  • As required, maintains the calibration files and maintenance/servicing files for lab equipment and processes
  • Ensures that the H&S and housekeeping standards are maintained
  • Gives product knowledge training sessions and demonstrations
  • Works in the field as needed
Qualification Profile- Education

  • Polytechnic or University
  • CET/EIT preferred

Experience and Skill Set:

  • This role is physical and will require the handling and lifting of dusty and heavy materials (cements, aggregate, concrete and equipment)
  • Work experience in the laboratory or field testing of cement, concrete or aggregate products
