Position Summary:


Reporting to the Manager, Off-Campus First Year Initiatives, the Student Experience Liaison is responsible for liaising and support as it relates to bookable spaces within the Dean of Students office, including the Level 1 Lounge, Commuter's Lounge, and Student Commons Lounge.

The incumbent will provide front-line access and focus on organizing, supporting and administering event support for these spaces, as well as actively seek out meaningful and creative feedback from students and event organizers to help improve usage and experiences within the spaces.

The incumbent will be required to collaborate with various departments and organizations across the university to enhance the Laurier student experience.

Occasional travel to other campuses and regular evening work will be required.


Accountabilities:


Communications and Administrative Support

  • Develop accurate and uptodate website content for the Lounge's internet presence.
  • Coordinates booking and provides high level event support for the Level 1 Lounge, Student Commons Lounge, and Commuter Lounge
  • Creates and distributes strategic communications on behalf of the Level 1 Lounge and Off-Campus Initiatives
  • Create and execute a strategic plan for the Level 1 Lounge social media channels.
  • Improve departmental workflows, standards, and procedures with the design of new templates and processes.
  • Liaise with internal University stakeholders, committees, and the Students' Union as related to the room booking process.
  • Develop templates to improve processes related to policy, procedures, and standards to improve the student experience and event coordination of the Level 1 Lounge.
  • Provide frontline support in the Level 1 Lounge and assist students in utilizing the equipment within the lounge

Student Programming

  • Coordinate the social programming and evening events within the Level 1 Lounge
  • Maintain booking system and events calendar for the Level 1 Lounge.
  • Liaise with university stakeholders hosting events to ensure space is utilized properly and all university policies are adhered to
  • Liaise with university stakeholders to promote the use of Level 1 Lounge, Student Commons Lounge and the Commuter Lounge for events
  • Administer poster approvals as outlined by the campus poster policy

Event Support

  • Coordinate event set up, take down, and equipment bookings and information sharing with Facilities and Asset Management, SHERM, and SCS as it relates to event requests
  • Ensure all university policies and procedures are being adhered to when spaces are booked by campus partners
  • Provide expertise and advice for event organizers in order to balance goals of the lounge and events
  • Provide mínimal dayof assistance for event organizers to maximize the use of the Level 1 Lounge
  • Provide event support to Off-Campus Initiatives events throughout the year during peak programming periods: orientation week, Thrive Week, Keep Calm and Study on, January Orientation, and year end celebrations

Comparison Review & Assessment

  • Create recommendations for improving the Level 1 Lounge
  • Provide creative and innovative ways for students to provide feedback regarding their experience in the Level 1 Lounge, Commuter's Lounge, Student Commons lounge and other campus spaces to inform future use
