Equipment Operator, S - Simcoe, Canada - Norfolk County
Description
Basic Function:
Provide a variety of construction, maintenance and repair services to roadways and adjacent public property for the safety and convenience of the public.
Position Description:
- Conduct road way and road allowance inspections
- Use dump truck with attachments to carry out sanding, salting, snow plowing, and transport construction and maintenance materials such as gravel, sand, brush, etc.
- Use Grader operations with attachments
- Use Backhoe/front end loader, brush chopper, street sweeper, flusher truck, steel drum roller, sidewalk machines with attachments and tractors with attachments
- Complete daily log book
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience:
- High school Grade 12 graduation plus an additional program of up to one year
- Over four years, up to and including five years related experience
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to operate County heavy equipment
- Valid province of Ontario Class "DZ" licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Computer expertise in corporate standard software (Microsoft Office) and department specific software to data search and entry and to create and modify word processed documents
- Must be aware of safe work practices as they relate to job responsibilities and work environment, and have the basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
