Job Summary:

The
Project Manager - Building Sciences serves to manage building envelope and restorations projects from preliminary investigations, through the designs and specifications, tender, field services and contract administration stages.

Typical projects include podium deck, curtain wall, masonry, parking garages, windows and roofing.


In this role, you will

  • Conduct analyses of buildings and building systems to provide clientele with recommendations for addition, modification and/or renovations to residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
  • Conduct condition assessments through the testing and evaluation of building envelope systems.
  • Onsite leakage investigations, testing and quality assurance.
  • Prepare construction Drawings, Specifications and Terms of Reference
  • Prioritize and deliver multiple projects simultaneously in a learning and collaborative environment.
  • Use initiative and judgment to identify and resolve situations while referring to engineering specifications, code requirements and methods of good practice.
  • Liaise with clients, design team consultants and contractors to confirm that project work is compliant with the design documents while remaining within budget and time constraints.
  • Conduct field investigations, which includes documenting and monitoring of project progress, confirming conformity to building codes and standards and project documents and preparing Field Observation Reports.
  • Work with Senior Engineers to develop professional acumen, gain experience and knowledge and learn conventional practices.

You will be a great fit if:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited University.
  • You have 2+ years of prior experience in building science/building envelope consulting, contracting or architectural environments.
  • Experience addressing building envelope items including, concrete and masonry restoration or cladding, glazing upgrades and roof replacements.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • You have access to a reliable vehicle with a valid Ontario Driver's License for travel to client sites.

Skills/abilities:


  • Project management skills. Ability to collaborate with a design team and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; including technical writing.
  • Thrives in a fastpaced, dynamic teamoriented environment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD drafting tools and standards.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize and execute requests quickly and effectively.
  • Asset: Bilingual English and French.
