Overview:


Reporting to the Supervisor, Operations Analytics, the Operations Analyst (OA) performs moderately complex analysis related to operational functions that impact physical damage claims, service delivery, special risk extension and driver and vehicle administration.

The Operations Analyst uses financial, statistical, and business-focused techniques to understand trends, forecast future costs, and solve business problems.

This position prioritizes competing projects and develops plans of action to support the division in monitoring and controlling physical damage claim costs, operational processes, and resources.

This position proactively identifies anomalies and unexpected trends, alerts appropriate management, and provides recommendations on appropriate additional work.


Responsibilities:


  • Develops solutions for moderately complex business problems through detailed business, root cause, cost benefit analysis and feasibility studies.
  • Plans and executes data collection and data analysis using advanced and innovative statistical, managerial or financial techniques for multiple line of business within the Operations division (claims, adjusting, estimating, fraud prevention, salvage, customer service, driver testing, vehicle repair, broker support) using numerous data sources simultaneously to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Gathers requirements, develops, tests, implements, and maintains operational dashboards that help monitor claim cost and operational effectiveness within the Operations division.
  • Plans analysis and reports to ensure compliance to physical damage claim business rules and procedures.
  • Supports development of small to large business cases by providing specific knowledge and expertise, costbenefit analysis, decision making, RFP development and response evaluation and success monitoring.
  • Designs moderately complex analysis that supports directorate, division, or corporate objectives for operational improvement.
  • Participates in divisional, directorate or departmental projects such as capacity modelling, key performance indicators, policy evaluation, crossjurisdictional studies, software modernization and legislative changes.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate or diploma in Business Analysis or a related discipline.
  • Five years of related analytical experience in claims, data, or financial analysis in an insurance environment.
OR

  • Degree in Commerce, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Three years of related analytical experience in claims, data, or financial analysis in an insurance environment.
  • Experience in business analysis, applied statistics, predictive analytics, accounting, auditing, and/or project management is an asset.
  • Experience in claim processing, claims operations, automobile repair processes, or financial forecasting is an asset.
  • Experience in system testing, or financial analysis is an asset.
