EY-Parthenon houses three strategic competencies which contain our market-leading capabilities and talent, supported by our global learning and development curriculum, namely: Strategy, Transaction Strategy & Execution, and Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy.


The opportunity
Join our Transaction Strategy & Execution ("TSE") team at the Consultant level, to be based in Calgary.

We assist our clients who are in the process of buying, selling or standing-up new businesses, providing strategic transaction advice and supporting their ability to get the deal done and value realized.

Our engagement teams provide a full range of hands-on, operationally focused support and advice across the transaction lifecycle.

We have more than 3,200 dedicated professionals in almost 100 locations worldwide who have helped bring to life some of the boldest and more unique transactions (buy-side and sell-side) with keen focus on value, speed, and client experience.

At the Consultant level, you will be part of a team and play a key role in client work covering:

  • Pre-deal analyses and due diligence (synergy and operational due diligence)
  • Sellside and carveout operational advice and support, including strategic analyses and carveout management
  • Buyside integration advice and support, including synergy assessments and integration management


You will work alongside experienced strategy and transactional professionals, gain exposure to several sectors and industries, work with client teams that are leaders in their respective fields, and gain access to an array of learning & development assets across EY.


Your key responsibilities


The essence of the Consultant role is to execute more complex analyses, deepen your experience with the core TSE toolkit spanning pre-deal analyses, sell & separate, and buy & integrated engagements, and learning to take end-to-end ownership of a complex workstream.

Important engagement level responsibilities will typically include:

  • Workstream planning and delivery
  • Proactive issue management and escalation to team leads, engagement managers and clients
  • Structured problem solving using rigorous methods/ tools to define, structure and analyse a problem
  • Preparing key analyses using analytical methods and tools and where required, building models
  • Drawing conclusions, forming insights and recommendations, and socializing these with leadership and client teams
  • Actively upholding the Firm's Quality and Risk Management standards, e.g., client confidentiality

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Some experience in project based, team environments
  • Willingness to be based in Calgary
  • Ability to travel within Canada, to the United States, and on occasion internationally for work on short notice

Ideally, you may
also have

  • Experience related to corporate transactions postsigning with at least one major transaction is a strong plus
  • Consulting firm experience is a strong plus
  • Project management experience is a strong plus
  • Postgraduate studies and certifications (MBA, CPA, CMA, CFA, PMP) are a plus
  • Some experience in business diagnostics or due diligence (operational or financial) is a plus
  • Functional experience in Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing & Sales, HR, and/or IT are a plus
  • Some experience or knowledge of Design Thinking or Agile W
