The Legislative Assembly seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as Office Manager within the Office of the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly.

The position plays a lead role in activities vital to operational requirements.

The incumbent will be responsible for the efficient management of administrative support and financial services for the Clerk's Office.

The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Clerk's Office and carries out responsibilities with considerable independence in making decisions where policy and procedure have been outlined and/or precedent has been set.

The position also acts as a liaison to all levels of staff and management within the Legislatures, elected Members and dignitaries from across Canada and the Commonwealth.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills & Expertise

  • Diploma or certificate in office administration and highlevel experience providing executive administrative support such as the preparation of correspondence, representing senior management at meetings, making travel arrangements, meeting minute taking, coordinating meetings, anticipating needs, and following up on actions arising. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including experience coaching, mentoring and motivating professional level staff.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills including the ability to manage high volume workload with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with MLAs, senior government officials, media, internal and external contacts, as well as the general public.
  • Experience within a lead role capacity in planning, implementing, and evaluating projects of varying degrees.
  • Strong problem solving and decisionmaking skills demonstrating sound judgement while often working with mínimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
  • Exceptional ability to exercise tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Experience with financial management including budget preparation monitoring of expenditures.

Desired Skills & Expertise

  • Familiarity with the Legislative Assembly and the Office of the Clerk
  • The ability to communicate orally and in writing in French is an asset.

Duties:

The incumbent will be responsible for the efficient management of administrative support and financial services for the Clerk's Office.

Under the general direction of the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly, the position is accountable for ensuring the proper provision of required support services and handling of inquiries to the Clerk's Office, MLAs, media, government departments and the public.


The position is required to organize tasks, set priorities, respond to changing priorities, work under deadlines and communicate with a variety of individuals and operate as a non-partisan entity in a dynamic political environment.
