About the Position

  • The role of Pastry Chef with Peake is an exciting opportunity for the right person. In this position you join a bright, experienced, fun and professional culinary team in the preparation of highquality meals in accordance with Peake standards of excellence. Major Responsibilities

  • Manages all daytoday operations of the Pastry division including labour and product cost control
  • Prepares all pastry goods including but not limited to: Cakes, breads, pies, cookies, etc.
  • Monitors inventory and stock of the division's ingredients and makes appropriate orders to fill needs
  • Guides, motivates, and trains pastry cooks
  • Engages in menu creation and development as needed
  • Assists the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef with the production and fulfillment of orders for events and deliveries
  • Attends production meetings as needed
*Tasks outside of those outlined in the job description may be required during times of increased demand*
Education, skills and qualifications

  • Formal culinary training with certificate or degree in professional (pastry) cooking
  • Red Seal (preferred)
  • Food Safe and First Aid Level 2 years of cooking experience in high volume or similar kitchens, 1+ years of managerial experience

Ongoing Expectations and Physical/Mental Demands

  • This role will require lifting of supplies, equipment, and product
  • This position requires long periods of standing and moving
  • Frequent interruptions from other team members while multitasking daily duties
  • Immediate environment will frequently be noisy and busy
  • Ongoing exposure to normal kitchen hazards (ovens, sharp objects, slippery surfaces)
  • Frequent tight deadlines
Usually Monday to Friday depending on business levels


Approximately 6-8 hour days, our pastry department typically works early mornings (between 5 and 6am) until early afternoon (around 1 and 2pm).
