TD's ESG strategy includes initiatives focused on sustainable finance, greenhouse gas emissions, climate issues and solutions in carbon intensive sectors, and developing a TD perspective on the transition to the low carbon economy.

This is a high priority project for the Bank, with engagement from senior executives across the enterprise.


Reporting to the Financed Emissions Senior Manager, the Data Analyst will be responsible for support in analyzing scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions to provide actionable business intelligence, which will be used to advance the Bank's decarbonization strategies.

The Data Analyst will work with the Corporate Citizenship team, Finance, and other key business partners within the bank to gain insights related to financed emissions inventories and targets, decarbonization efforts, and other related topics.


Job Details

  • Support the creation and maintenance of data analytics for scope 1, 2, and 3 financed emissions results across the bank for all portfolios, at the asset class, sectoral, and account levels, including internal/external data acquisition and external reporting
  • Identify meaningful and actionable trends, patterns, and insights in financed emissions calculation results
  • Monitor new policies and regulations to assess implications on GHG emissions reporting and analysis
  • Preparing briefings, decks, summaries for an executive audience
  • Managing and fostering strong relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to the bank
  • Support the team in responding to surveys, stakeholder engagement letters and shareholder proposals
  • Support the work of the ESG Centre of Expertise and represent it at relevant external forums as/if needed (PCAF, NZBA, etc.)
  • Strong critical thinking, research, decisionmaking, and analysis skills
  • Knowledge of data structure and strong data segmentation capabilities
  • Ability to collect, transform, and analyze large amounts of data
  • Proven ability to uncover and synthesize meaningful analyses of data results derived from complex technical calculations
  • Data visualization, data storytelling, and strong presentation skills
  • Statistical and predictive analysis capabilities
  • Organizational awareness, resourcefulness, and demonstrated relationship building skills understanding of whom to engage to identify solutions and quickly resolve issues
  • Comfort in a fastpaced environment with many active internal and external stakeholders

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 6+ years relevant experience. Undergraduate degree or relevant professional experience within Climate Science, Business, Finance, or Accounting.
  • The incumbent should possess:
  • A background, knowledge, or passion as it relates to environmental topics within industry sectors, with a special focus on climate, carbon, and GHG emissions issues
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data into key and concise messages for the senior leadership team
  • Ability to thrive in fast moving and uncertain environments
  • Excellent multitasking, organizational, and time management abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all stakeholder levels across the enterprise and an ability to translate complex ideas into digestible content and presentations that inspire trust and achieve results
  • Applicable knowledge regarding data models, data structure, database usage, and data mining is an asset
  • Awareness of fundamental Data Governance and Data Management practices and norms
  • Professional experience with Finance, Treasury or Balance Sheet Management is an asset
  • Process improvement knowledge and understanding of lean principles is an asset
  • Software and tools skills
