Description

Century Mile Racetrack and Casino is looking for a someone familiar with driver tractors, skid steers and enjoys working outside as part of our horse track maintenance team.

This position is classified as Race Labourer 3.

The Racing Labourer 3 knows how to operate equipment such as skid steers, tractor and water truck. If you come from farming background or landscaping background we want you

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operating skid steers, tractors and water trucks:

Not afraid to get dirty and lift things

Must be able to work race days (Fridays and Saturdays)

  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Completes all scheduled maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning duties assigned
  • Work as a team player
  • Adhere to all Century policy and procedures.
  • Be able to take on the responsibilities of track maintenance (harrowing, watering, etc) as instructed.
  • Assess equipment breakdowns and emergencies and coordinate their resolutions.
  • Work with outside contractors and suppliers: tractor repairs, dirt, sand, fibre for tracks.

QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience in performing maintenance and labor duties in a similar environment.

Proven ability in performing tasks within specific deadlines and under pressure where problem solving, troubleshooting, organizing and prioritizing work is required.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Previous maintenance and/ or labor position experiences are considered an asset. Knowledge of racing or horse industry preferred. Experience operating the grader, heavy equipment such as forklift, tractor, and water truck preferred. Experience and/or general knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, etc. is preferred.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver's License with clear drivers abstract required. Basic first aid and fire prevention training considered an asset. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Certificate or ticket in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical considered an asset.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Essential duties require lifting 50 or more pounds; and working a standard workweek with additional hours on a routine basis.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Essential duties involve working with large numbers of people in either an inside/outside environment, which is frequently loud or containing high noise levels.

Heavy equipment, forklift, tractor, water truck, etc.

From $22.00 per hour
