The Support Early Childhood Educator (ECE) will work to enhance the role of the Lead Early Childhood Educator (ECE) by understanding and responding to the children's learning needs, assisting the Lead ECE with the preparation of materials, the arrangement of learning centres, the observation of the children's activities and progress within the program, the representation of the work of the children, and the movement of children from one activity to another.
The Support ECE will work together with the Lead Educator to create an environment that is respectful, stimulating, safe, and nurturing.
The Support ECE will work as member of the school team acting under the direction of the Lead ECE and reports directly to the Supervisor, Pre-Primary Program.
Qualifications:
- A diploma, certificate or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution;
- ECE Level 2 Classification, or ECE Level 1 Classification combined with a minimum of one (1) year experience working with preschool children in a childcare environment. Orientation (Entry) Level and School Age Approval are not equivalent to a Level 1 or higher ECE classification;
- Recent experience (within past 5 years) working with preschool children;
- Current Certification in First Aid;
- Training and/or experience in a playbased learning environment is an asset.
- Completion of the ECE Specific Questionnaire and the Certification section of the online resume outlining ECE Classification
- Proof of ECE diploma/certificate/undergraduate degree (uploaded to your online resume)
- Proof of ECE Classification Level (uploaded to your online resume)
- Proof of valid First Aid Certification (uploaded to your online resume)
Rate of Pay:
This is a 10-month position with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar which includes time off at Christmas, March Break and Summer break.
The starting annual salary is $28,929.38 paid across 12 months (August 1 st to July 31 st ) for working a 10-month school year.
The annual salary for term positions less than a school year is pro-rated over the length of the term.
Hours of Work:
Support ECEs work 6.5 hours per day (includes 1⁄2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15 minute paid breaks), Monday to Friday.
