Overview:


Responsibilities:


  • Receive samples, and document receipt
  • Prioritize samples and workflow to ensure timely progression into the lab to meet client demands
  • Enter sample and client information into LIMS, assigning analysis requirements and generating sample labels
  • Distribute samples to the correct sample storage location
  • Determine internal/external sublet location and prepare sample for shipping
  • General duties as directed by the team leader or operations manager
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and notify coworkers of potential sample hazards; comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Postsecondary education in chemistry or other science related field, or high school diploma with related experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 yr experience in a general service role
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety preferred
  • Data entry and computer skills
  • Possess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day
  • Understand what must be completed each work day and take the initiative to complete those tasks properly and in a timely manner does not need Senior/Principal Technician or management to explain what the task is
  • Ability to redirect original plan in order to prioritize client samples as required
  • Able to work well with others and collaborate with coworkers
  • Will be working with gas and oil samples, cylinders
  • Ability to identify potential issues with information provided
  • Strong ability to prioritize and organize work flow

Physical Demands:

  • Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)
  • Lifting requirements: lifting
50 lbs. on occasion

  • Ability to perform computer based tasks for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically using safe lifting techniques
