Overview:

Responsibilities:

Receive samples, and document receipt
Prioritize samples and workflow to ensure timely progression into the lab to meet client demands
Enter sample and client information into LIMS, assigning analysis requirements and generating sample labels
Distribute samples to the correct sample storage location
Determine internal/external sublet location and prepare sample for shipping
General duties as directed by the team leader or operations manager
Maintain a clean and safe work environment and notify coworkers of potential sample hazards; comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy

Skills / Qualifications:

Postsecondary education in chemistry or other science related field, or high school diploma with related experience preferred
Minimum 1 yr experience in a general service role
Working knowledge of laboratory safety preferred
Data entry and computer skills
Possess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day
Understand what must be completed each work day and take the initiative to complete those tasks properly and in a timely manner does not need Senior/Principal Technician or management to explain what the task is
Ability to redirect original plan in order to prioritize client samples as required
Able to work well with others and collaborate with coworkers
Will be working with gas and oil samples, cylinders
Ability to identify potential issues with information provided
Strong ability to prioritize and organize work flow

Physical Demands:

Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)
Lifting requirements: lifting

50 lbs. on occasion

Ability to perform computer based tasks for long periods of time
Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically using safe lifting techniques
