Responsible to:
Executive Director
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Communications & Program Coordinator designs and reviews public information deliverables; promotes the mission of Skills Canada Yukon at public events, and on various online platforms; delivers general programming (including workshops, Skills Clubs, and Presentations) within Yukon; supports logistics of Territorial & National Skills Competition planning; and performs other duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Marketing/Promotions/Community Events:
- Build and manage social media profiles & presence with the support of the SCY team
- Develop and distribute information materials highlighting trades & technology careers & the apprenticeship pathway
- Develops unique initiatives for each of our programs and events to ensure the target audience is engaged
- Maintain and enhance Skills Canada Yukon website
- Represent Skills Canada at career fairs and other community events to promote Skills Canada Yukon
- Develops & distributes radio & newspaper advertisements
2. General Programming
- Coordinates, develops, and facilitates general programming such as but not limited to presentations, Skills Clubs, & workshops showcasing trades and technology careers, focusing on the apprenticeship pathway
- Provides monthly reporting on activities
- Supports volunteer instructors to develop content for general programming including Skills Clubs
3. Skills Competitions
- Supports the Skills Canada Yukon Program Coordinator:
- With preparation and distribution of all pre
- National & Territorial Competition materials, including Contest Descriptions, registration packages, and competitor evaluation forms
- With logistics of travel and accommodation plans for National & Territorial competitions, including consideration for tools
Qualifications:
- Related degree or diploma such as recreation administration, education, business or event management, communications or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated aptitude for creative communications, design, and collaborative project management
- Strong program development and facilitation skills
- Experience maintaining online/social media platforms for business or nonprofit organization
- Ability to manage numerous projects and priorities simultaneously
- Welldeveloped decision making and problemsolving skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Willingness to be handson, as the role requires physical labor at times
- Proficiency working with Windows, Microsoft Office
- Background in trades or technology will be considered an asset.
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license & Standard First Aid
- Willing to work evenings and weekend as required
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
