The salary range for this position is:

Recruitment range:
$67,040- $73,911
starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.


Performance range:
starting salary to max of $87,175
is available through annual performance increases.

  • Job SummaryReporting to the Associate Director, Marketing Engagement and Programs, the Vikes Events Operations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the operations of the varsity athletic events program. Responsibilities include events such as Vikes varsity home regular season, exhibition games, champion tournaments, centennial stadium track events and programs, marquee annual events, 3rd party events, etc.


In the coordination of events, this position provides formal supervision and leadership development to students and community event staff and volunteers.


Due to the facility hours of operation and events/activities, this position requires stamina and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends in direct support of the department's event offerings.


  • Job RequirementsUndergraduate degree and 3 years' event experience

Experience must include:

  • Event planning and delivery
  • Supervision of event staff and/or volunteers
  • Retail (concession, merchandise) and alcohol sales and activities (e.g. merchandise, concession, planning and sales)
  • Navigating and using standard office equipment and software including MS office, spreadsheets and relevant database(s).

Knowledge requirements include:

  • Event management best practices
  • Budget development and administration
  • Contract requirements and development
  • Event security
Equivalent combinations of training, education and/or experience may be considered.


Competency requirements include:

  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proven track record achieving project goals on time and produce deliverables of a high quality
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population and with all levels of university personnel
  • Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory skills and the ability to inspire a team

Assets or Preferences:


  • Preference may be given to work experience gained in a postsecondary, athletics and recreation or similar organization and environment.
  • Experience with sports marketing environment considered an asset.
