Public Relations
- Plan and execute PR accounts in a variety of industries
- This role will be client facing; strong written and oral communications is critical
- Project manage multiple client accounts
- Conduct media outreach on a daily basis to local, national and international media outlets to secure media opportunities for clients
- Develop and maintain strong media relationships
- Research editorial opportunities for clients, as well as stats and evidence supporting press releases and pitch ideas, articles related to key client topics, reporter bios and publication background, etc.
- Daily media monitoring for news and trends pertinent to specific clients' businesses
- Compile media lists and editorial calendars as needed
- Create media briefing documents with detailed and insightful notes to prepare clients for interview appointments
- Write relevant and compelling press releases, byline articles and media pitches that include a strong hook
- Brainstorm and devise news angles and campaign ideas to grab media interest
- Stepup to daily tasks of the day and look beyond key responsibilities to establish new skills
- Design comprehensive media reports demonstrating Magnolia gathered integrated communications results
- Effectively develop client and media relationships to support the success of Magnolia's PR accounts
Content Creation & Strategic Support
- Support with copywriting and content creation for PR accounts. This includes items such as pitches, bylines, blogs
- Support with proofing and quality assurance on content development as needed
- Support in the creation of PR strategies for a variety of client accounts
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or similar level certificate related to journalism, marketing, public relations and communications desired
- Minimum 35 years' experience in public relations and media relations in North America is required; prior experience working in an agency is an asset
- Experience with media relations in the North American market, including developing media relationships and conducting media outreach to secure placements is required
- Keen interest and working experience in high technology, manufacturing and finance industry are assets
- Experience in writing press releases, pitches and long and short forms writing is a must
- Experience designing presentations through PowerPoint and creating clean, concise documents in Microsoft word is useful
- Experience project managing is required
- Detailed eye in proofing and editing documents
- Creative, analytical and personable skills
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Strong organizational, time management and leadership skills
- Keen interest in keeping up with current events and business issues an asset
- Knowledge and experience using media databases such as Critical Mention are an asset
Salary:
$58,000.00-$65,000.00 per year

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
