What You'll Do

  • Model and/or design for a single discipline. Prepare drawing packages in compliance with S+A standards at the onset of a project, such as layouts, schematics and detailed scale drawings.
  • Produce and/or modify a BIM (Building Information Model) from sketches, markups and/or designs as required to suit design requirements, consultant changes, scope changes and/or general updates.
  • Review and compare models to markups to ensure accuracy of work in both 2D drawings and 3D modelling.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines' design changes and model challenges.
  • Populate and maintain database within a model as needed to meet design requirements.
  • Use 2D and 3D draft analysis to identify any interferences or space issues with the project. Discuss with team for solutions and/or change implementation.
  • Prepare submissions for issuance, plotting and archives.
  • Control, maintain, and organize models in the appropriate project directory system, as per company standards.
  • Adhere to office BIM and prototype standards, including the project BIM Execution Plan, Level of Development matrix
  • Lay out MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) equipment and identify clashes with major building elements. When required, produce schematic drawings and identify sizing requirements.
  • Generate Navisworks models.
  • Any other BIM tasks required to assist in the completion of working drawings.

Who You Are:


  • College diploma in Building Information Modelling Program (BIM), Architecture, Architectural Technology, Mechanical or Electrical building service program; or a related field with relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, Autodesk, Navisworks, Dynamo or related BIM tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with the design team, external BIM teams or clients.
  • Solid time management and organization to present clear and concise notes/details on drafts, drawings and submissions in a timely manner
  • Selfstarter, resultsoriented with ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Highly motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Adaptable to change
  • Strong sense of urgency along with ability to accept feedback and direction.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to Have:


  • Experience with building sector services such as plumbing systems, HVAC, lighting, and power is strongly preferred, along with a good understanding of structural, mechanical, electrical, lighting and architectural models
  • Audiovisual or communication systems experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the installation practices for mechanical and electrical systems is an asset
