Purpose of Job:


The Manager, Retail & Small Business Collections GRM performs Risk Collections function for Asset Sales in the back end for the Bank by developing valuation models, data analysis, challenge collection practices and support execution and oversight of various initiatives in Canadian Banking.

The incumbent continually monitors internal and external leading indicators on behalf of the Bank and reengineers processes and practices to improve debt recovery and gain operational efficiencies.


The incumbent ample experience in:
- retail and small business collections and recovery strategies.
- asset sales, insolvency process, distressed debt market in the Americas and with adequate knowledge of the regional challenges
- portfolio valuations

  • Data analytics with a minimum of 3 years of experience working with large datasets using statistical tools SAS/SQL/Tableau/PowerBI
  • Stakeholder management and effective communication skills


Leveraging from his background in those pillars Is expected to provide specialized advice and counsel, and spearhead implementation of improvement initiatives.


Responsibilities:

Achieve a proper strategic management of debt collections and recovery functions by:

  • Procure continuous improvement of all components from credit risk perspective, leveraging risk technology and by working within the minimum standards defined in the global collections policy
  • Mitigating risks/loss to the Bank by ensuring adherence to credit risk management policies and operational guidelines
  • Ensuring units are operating within budget(s) and against established compliance/governance guidelines as measured by audits
  • Ensuring service level agreements are contracted and met or exceeded with both internal partners and external vendors
  • Keep updated on distressed asset management strategies.
  • Ensuring future enhancements are properly implemented
  • Support Senior Manager in reorganizations/projects to create a Collections organization that is aligned with business partner's strategic focus.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen the Collections and Recoveries risk and operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Continually champion new opportunities which lend themselves to the Bank's goal of improving productivity, enhancing service and reducing costs by:


  • Promoting the reengineering of processes to improve debt recovery levels, improve productivity and reduce costs
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders about convenience and applicability of Asset Sales, attending specifically to the portfolio needs and current capabilities.
  • Streamlining and/or integrating automation and technology
Support Asset Sales processes aligned with the broader Bank strategy by:

  • Overseeing the implementation and adherence to the policies for Asset Sales across Canadian Banking.
  • Supporting the sale process endtoend and oversee and coordinate the internal and external stakeholders involved in the same.
  • Coordinate the deployment of resources to initiate, process and close Asset Sales throughout the footprint.
  • Asset valuations of multiple portfolios

Data Analytics:

  • This role requires working with large data sets, developing its understanding to produce meaningful information and leverage for valuation, recovery analysis and other trends

Job Requirements:


  • Undergraduate degree or higher required. Degree in statistics, business, economics or finance preferred
  • Strong knowledge in data management and statistical analytics to understand customer behaviour and recover trends
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the use of SAS programming, SQL, Power BI/Tableau is must, Advanced level in Excel is an added advantage
  • Bank / Retail and Small Business Lending experience
  • Adequate knowledge of Retail and Small Business Credit products
  • Adequate knowledge of project management disciplines
  • Good understanding of the Bank's business plans and objectives
