    A day in the life

    The Human Resources Advisor will provide guidance of human resources services to managers and employees throughout Layfield Canadas Geosynthetics group to support the achievement of business goals and objectives. Responsibilities include workforce planning, recruitment and selection, performance management, employee relations and policy and legislation interpretations, training, and development. This position will also work closely with Corporate HR on initiatives to improve workplace culture and employee retention, measure their effectiveness, and provide feedback.

    How you will lead

  • Partner and collaborate with managers by embedding the HR strategy into day-to-day work and providing professional HR guidance and support to relevant internal clients to add value to the business.
  • Support managers in the areas of employee relations and engagement; talent development; conflict resolution, team building; and performance management; ensuring that HR practices are consistent and comply with legislation, corporate policies, and procedures.
  • Manage full cycle recruitment activities including maintaining and creating job descriptions, sourcing, screening, interviewing, conducting reference checks, selecting candidates, and onboarding & orientations.
  • Creating and presenting all employee life cycle changes (employment contracts, amendment letters, status change forms) and making necessary changes in ADP and forwarding to payroll for processing.
  • Manage all leaves, including short- and long-term illness/disability leave, medical accommodations, stay-at-work arrangements, and gradual and full-time return to work.
  • Support leaders in identifying learning and development opportunities and resources, programs, and tools to support employees development.
  • Monitor trends in employee development and make recommendations about leadership and employee development.
  • Plan and execute specific projects work including engagement, attraction and leadership programs.
  • Prepare and support annual HR processes for performance management, salary review and budget planning.
  • What we look for

  • Post-Secondary degree in Business Admin or Human Resources Management, or Diploma in HR with relevant experience. A CPHR designation would be preferred.
  • Seven years of progressive Human Resources experience. Demonstrated understanding and application of HR related principles, practices, procedures and employment legislation.
  • A professional trusted advisor with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Able to research, analyze information and data, and make recommendations.
