Introduction


WJ Groundwater is the leading construction dewatering and groundwater specialist in the UK with operations in Canada, the Middle East, Poland & the Philippines.

We have specialized plant and equipment that allows us to install custom dewatering systems in various environments including from within tunnels and shafts and from the surface.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Sourcing: identifying potential local and international suppliers, soliciting proposals, evaluating supplier capabilities, and negotiating prices and payment terms.
  • Supplier Management: Conducting supplier assessments, managing supplier relationships, and monitoring supplier performance following WJ's Supplier Management Plan.
  • Cost Analysis and Budgeting: Conducting cost analysis and market research to identify costsaving opportunities and ensure competitive pricing. Collaborating with stakeholders (i.e. Estimation, Operations, Finance and Administration and Yard) to establish procurement budgets and tracking expenditures to maintain budgetary control.
  • International orders: Work with the broker for international shipments and ensure proper actions and documentation protocols are followed; Track/follow the life of material and equipment, from manufacturing to receiving;
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities to enhance procurement processes, systems, and efficiencies. Monitoring industry trends and best practices to stay informed about advancements in procurement methodologies and technologies. The above is not exhaustive, and you will be expected to undertake other duties which may reasonably fall within the level of responsibility and competence.

Qualifications & Experience
A motivated and hardworking individual with good written and communication skills is essential.

Minimum 2 years' experience within the construction industry managing procurement in a similar environment or 3+ years of procurement experience in a related industry.


Additional Requirements:


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required. In particular, an advanced skill level in Excel or other spreadsheet software is required, and experience with Smartsheet will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders is a must
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, problemsolving, and analytical skills
  • Experience with Adobe is a requirement
  • Experience with Trello is considered an asset
