The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Supervisor to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Roads Operations Department.

Reporting to the Roads Operations Manager, in this unionized position you will perform supervisory work in overseeing crews engaged in roads operations.

This position is technical in nature and includes performing crew assessments, inspection of work, productivity and equipment.

Responsibilities:

Plan, assign, review and supervise the work of skilled, semi-skilled crews and other employees engaged in maintenance, repair, and construction
Conduct crew assessments, inspection of employee productivity levels and ensure equipment and safety training requirements are complete
Inspect equipment and ensure safe work practices according to municipal standards, WorkSafeBC requirements and equipment operation guidelines
Prepare project plans, schedules and coordinate projects carried out by contractors
Prepare and maintain a variety of records/reports and ensure appropriate permits are in in place for the start of projects
Develop and implement new/improved work methods and prepare preventative maintenance schedules
Respond to requests, enquires, and concerns from the public
Perform other work, as required

Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses, plus considerable related experience, including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment related to roads operations
Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards, safety precautions applicable to the work
Considerable knowledge of the principles and operation of construction, maintenance equipment and industrial machinery
Sound knowledge of the regulations, byIaws, objectives and policies applicable to roads operations
Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, drawings and prepare diagrams
Ability to coordinate, supervise and oversee the work of contractors and crews engaged in construction
Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with internal and external contacts

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $ $46.20 per hour (2023 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
