Job description

This role manages the delivery of program‑specific projects that enhance tools, processes, and other critical areas within Ship Repair Programs. It is responsible for developing, improving, and validating the plans, processes, and policies required to execute repair projects effectively. The role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive performance improvements and ensure initiatives are completed on time, on budget, and to defined scope and quality standards.

  • Developing, managing, and implementing project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, risks, and quality management.
  • Leading and managing project teams, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing guidance and support in a collaborative approach. Coordinating with stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal departments, to ensure project objectives are fully understood and met.
  • Managing project risks and issues and developing and implementing mitigation strategies. Monitoring project progress and performance and reporting regularly to all stakeholders.
  • Analyzing and assessing data to identify root cause options and make recommendations to the Program Management Team. Ensuring compliance with relevant ISI regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Managing project budgets and financials, including tracking expenses and forecasting costs to completion. Leading project meetings, including preparing agendas, facilitating discussions, and documenting decisions and action items.
  • Providing leadership and direction to project teams, fostering a positive and productive working environment. Contributing to the continuous improvement of project management processes and best practices.

  • Post-secondary degree, in business administration, engineering or related discipline.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply core Project Management processes: scheduling, lean methodologies, budgeting and cost forecasting, performance tracking, risk management.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in a project management position in defense/design/construction industries.
  • Knowledge in naval design or project build sectors, large scope national contracts or heavy industrial sectors an asset.
  • Considerable knowledge of project management principles; PMP designation an asset.
  • Continuous improvement certification (such as yellow/green/black belt) an asset.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, energetic, and results‑focused.
  • Proven leadership and effective teamwork abilities.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
