Travel Requirements: Travel will be required to Aecon's sites throughout Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan

Job Duties

At Aecon, people are at the heart of everything we do. Aecon is focused on identifying, attracting, and hiring talented and diverse Paving Personnel for the 2024 Construction Season.

• Performs either rough grade or fine grade finishing, spreading, and mixing materials on roadway.
• Must be able to understand grades and have knowledge of plans, drawings, and overall road construction.
• Responsible for equipment checks and informing fleet department of mechanical problems with equipment.
• Ability to operate other equipment is considered an asset.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge & Experience

• 2-3 years' experience of working in the paving and asphalt industry.
• 2-3 years' experience operating paving equipment
• 2-3 years' experience working on municipal and highways paving projects.
• 2-3 years' experience and understanding of paving and paving processes.
• Maintains a valid Class 5 driver's license or better.
• Own vehicle to get to and from jobsite.
• Willing to work overtime, as required.
• Must comply with the company's drug & alcohol program, including testing requirement.
• In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSH guidelines.
• Ability to communicate and report effectively in a team environment.

Compensation and Benefits

• $32.00-$40.00 /hour straight time hourly rate
• The position is eligible for overtime. All hours worked in excess of 8 hours per day or 44 hours in a week shall be paid at 1.5 times the straight time rate.
• Project work is scheduled for 14/2, 12-hour days, schedule flexible to change (Highways)

• 6-10% vacation pay will be provided in accordance with Alberta Employment Standards
• Camp accommodations or Living out Allowance (LOA) provided for work on site
• Transportation to site provided.

Working Conditions and Environment

• Primary work location will be at various project sites across Southern Alberta and South Saskatchewan
• Project, training, and business-related travel may be required.
• Exposure to construction work site environment in all seasons
• Relocation will be required. Relocation costs covered by employer.
